travhead31 168x300 Welcome to Travis Bonneteaus e portfolio!Hi welcome to my e-portfolio, I started this as part of a BCIT school project during my marketing program and decided to keep it going. I believe in the future everyone will need to have an e-portfolio anyway, so I’m one step ahead already. Here’s a little info about me:

I taught myself HTML and web design at a young age, leading me into designing small graphics for the websites I designed using Adobe Illustrator. Soon after that, I started designing logos and event posters for small companies which has become a passion of mine today, view some of my work here.

Creating websites has given me a strong understanding of SEO and web marketing which has stirred my curiosity into the larger world of “marketing”. After taking one year of marketing classes at BCIT, I have come to love all aspects of marketing from the research, to the problem solving, leading into the design and finish of a complete Integrated Marketing Plan.

Upon Graduation this year I would like to pursue a career with a progressive and creative marketing or advertising firm, creating and maintaining strong brands using the web, social media, and traditional advertising.

I was just voted in as VP of Advertising with the BCIT Marketing Association. My goal is to grow awareness and strengthen the BCITMA brand by creating visual and promotional materials that will captivate students across the BCIT campus. Materials include event posters (print and digital), t-shirts, business cards, water bottle labels, and brochures. Throughout the year I plan to successfully lead a team of creative minds in designing posters for different BCITMA events, as well as creating branding work for different companies in the community. Branding items will include logos, web design, letterheads, and newsletter templates. BCITMA – CONNECT. CREATE. CAPTIVATE.

I have also had a DJ company Good Time DJ’s for over 10 years, spinning all over Vancouver, Australia, and Cruise ships.

Have a look through my e-portfolio, I hope you enjoy it. Please leave a comment or use the contact form, I would love to receive feedback from you! Thanks for visiting.

storm swirl final web1 Storm Fitness Inc. Logo complete

Michelle Ricketts from Evolve Fitness and Louise Green from Body Exchange, joined forces and are opening a new fitness centre catering towards women called Storm Fitness Inc. in North Vancouver. The grand opening is January 9th 2010.

They asked me to produce their logo which you can see above, I think it turned out well. They wanted a clean looking logo, while incorporating the “O” into a tornado. We then added some swirls and circles at a later date adding some character.

What do you think of the Storm Logo?

Check out some other logos and graphics I have created here.

Penang Malaysia 300x225 Penang, Malaysia Travel Newsletter

I am quoted in an article from 2006 on the Star Online website. I was backpacking around South East Asia at the time,  I didn’t even know it was an interview! haha funny, I just stumbled upon it today while searching my name on the site, 123peaople.ca. Surprised me, but it brought back some memories for sure.

You can view the whole story here… Backpacker’s Can’t Get Enough of Penang – By Priscilla Diellenberg

While staying at the budget Pin Seng Hotel, off Love Lane, they made friends with another couple from Vancouver, Canada, who have been backpacking around Asia Pacific for three years.

Music deejay Travis Bonneteau, 27, and chef Jessilyn Laurel, 26, were in Penang for five days.

“We came to Penang because we knew there is an Indonesian consulate here and we need to get a visa to go to Sumatra, where I can go surfing,” said Bonneteau.

“The people here have been friendly. On the streets, we are greeted with ‘hello’ and ‘welcome’. And it is nice that everyone speaks English, we find it easier to have a conversation here than in Bangkok.”

He said the hotel operator would give suggestions daily on where to go and what to do in George Town, and was helpful with directions to places.

Laurel added that they had also been to the beaches in Batu Ferringhi and the shopping malls, and even caught the latest movie Superman Returns.

After Sumatra and Bali, the couple plan to return to Malaysia to visit Kuala Lumpur, Taman Negara, and the islands on the east coast.

They said they love travelling and meeting people, and that the whole experience has been an adventure.

“Since we started travelling, we have been back to Canada a year ago for two to three weeks, just to say ‘hi’ and ‘bye’,” they said.

“We are on a tight budget. For example, we spend RM1.80 for this place and RM2 to eat,” added Bonneteau.

They have been to Fiji, New Zealand, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand. After Indonesia and Malaysia, they plan to visit India, Nepal, Tibet, Burma, and Laurel’s hometown in the Philippines.

dj pic3I have been DJing at different events, Night Clubs, Weddings , and Cruise Ships for over 10 years. This is a hobby that will always stay with me as I love music and I love to get people dancing. I do run a mobile DJ company called Good Time DJ’s that mainly plays at weddings and Christmas parties.

I play every type of music depending on the audience, my favorite music is house or any electronic music such as breakbeats or drum ‘n’ bass. Although I do play CD’s and mp3’s, I prefer to play traditional records on my turntables. There is more of a hands on feel to it, as well as a story behind each record as opposed to a CD that can break or scratch instantly.

Here is a demo I produced for a cruise line position, enjoy!

revel room.pngI created a marketing plan for a restauraunt in the lovely Gastown area of Vancouver with my team as a project for my Marketing course I took in March 2009.

It was an intensive project which in the end taught us a lot about preparing a marketing plan for a CEO of a company. We also had to present in front of the class using a PowerPoint presentation that went really well.

We chose this company because it is a really good restaurant with some original ideas, but no one knows they exist because of their lack of marketing. With a little marketing help, this restaurant could obtain a well known restaurant status in Vancouver.

For my Organizational Behaviour class I was required to write about a time when I was motivated. I described how that motivation made me feel different than the way I usually am, and how long the motivation lasted.

I am really pleased with this story, it gave me a chance to reflect on my travels to Australia. Please read and tell what you think of the story.

bcit exterior 300x225 John Chow, Miss604, and biztech101, all all in one placeI attended a BSYS seminar at BCIT put on by Cyri Jones that featured:

Jeff Balin from Jeff Balin.com, a website all about leadership.

John Chow from JohnChow.com, a website that has great information on making money online by blogging and online marketing.

Rebecca Bollwitt from Miss604.com, a website focused on whats happening in and around Vancouver, B.C.

Ivan Surjanovic from biztech101.com, a website with some good new computer and internet tools to make your life easier.

This was a very informative and motivating session, I learned a great deal about WordPress and blogging. Of course I have a long way to go still, but I created Jessilyn’sKitchen.com two days after the seminar for my girlfriend to showcase her cooking tips and recipes. The site still has some work but I’ve learnt a lot in the process. This e-portfolio is my 2nd wordpress blog. In the future I would like to start a blog for music and djing, incorporating my dj company Good Time DJ’s. I also want to start up a graphics and logos blog showcasing my graphic designs that I love to do on the side, which will also feature branding and marketing information.

I just started a new blog to create a compilation of all the stories, thoughts, and videos on inspiration and motivation to help guide others along the path success called Inspired For Success.

You can view all four speaker speeches on this live blog, The Why of the Web.

charter graphicOur team spent a lot of time putting this team charter together for our Organizational Behaviour course at BCIT. I learnt a lot about teamwork, and the different roles each person needs to contribute to be successful in any future projects.

I feel it is a great exercise to go through with any new team you may have as it lets you get to know each other, and each person’s strong areas. It also allows you to work out any kinks or potential problems before they happen.

I created a newsletter article with Word 2007 as a project for my Business Systems course. The object of this newsletter is to give potential employers information about me instead of handing them a traditional resume and cover letter.

I feel it’s a good idea, it definitely would make you stand out from the crowd. I think that it may waste the employers time though having to read it, it is much easier to scan through a resume quickly.

Tell me what you think of the idea.

Tab stops are a very useful tool when using PowerPoint 2007 to control paragraph indents within a text box.

First, you want to make sure you are in Normal View to be able to use the ruler which is needed to execute the tab stops. Click on the box next to the ruler option under the view tab.

tabstop31 Inserting Tab Stops To Align Text with MS PowerPoint 2007

There are already default indents setup for each of the five levels of bullets and numbered lists used in a paragraph set at every inch. These default indents and tab stops are shown on the top ruler when you click on the textbox or the text area. These are the small grey markers (lines) that appear underneath the ruler.

tabstop Inserting Tab Stops To Align Text with MS PowerPoint 2007

To change the default tab stops, drag the tab stop (grey marker) to a new position that matches the text’s position of indent. The space between all default tab stops changes proportionately. For example, if you move a default tab to one-half inch, all default tabs will be one-half inch apart. For more accurate positioning of the indent markers hold down the Ctrl key as you drag.

To add a new tab stop click the button on the far left of the ruler to cycle through the different types of tabs, there are four in total;

tab2 Inserting Tab Stops To Align Text with MS PowerPoint 2007 Left tab – Text is aligned with its left edge on the tab stop
tab3 Inserting Tab Stops To Align Text with MS PowerPoint 2007 Centre tab- Text is centred beneath the tab stop
tab1 Inserting Tab Stops To Align Text with MS PowerPoint 2007 Right tab – Text is aligned with its right edge on the tab stop
tab4 Inserting Tab Stops To Align Text with MS PowerPoint 2007 Decimal tab – Numbers are aligned with the decimal point beneath the tab stop

Once you have selected which tab stop you would like to insert, click on the top ruler where you would like to add the tab stop. You can drag this tab stop around anytime, or add as many tab stops as you wish. When you add a tab stop, any default tab stops located to the left of the new tab stop are removed. You can press (Ctrl + Tab) to move to the next tab.

tabstop2 Inserting Tab Stops To Align Text with MS PowerPoint 2007

If you would like to remove a tab stop, use the mouse to drag the stop off the ruler.

I hope this helped you out!
